From download to first draft
A plugin for your workspace. A starting point for your work.
Have Codex ready. These downloads extend Codex; they do not run as standalone apps or install into a regular ChatGPT chat. If you do not have the command-line tool, follow the official Codex CLI setup guide.
Download and extract the ZIP. Keep the whole extracted folder, including hidden configuration folders. Its README contains the same installation commands shown above. Put the folder somewhere permanent before installing.
Register and install. Open a terminal in the extracted folder. Run the two commands under your chosen plugin’s installation details. The first registers that local collection; the second installs the plugin.
Start a new Codex task. Choose the plugin and bring a premise, draft, or manuscript. Try the example prompt, then make the work your own.
If a command is unavailable, update Codex using its official instructions. The download is a local installation package, not a one-click official marketplace listing.
For book projects: KDP Genius helps organize production and local checks. Its bundled PDF helper checks file presence, readability, hashes, and interior page count; it does not certify fonts, margins, cover dimensions, EPUB validity, or KDP acceptance. Review current Amazon specifications and the KDP Previewer before publishing.
